Markdown Manager
Markdown Manager is our pricing promotion tool where you can mark down your rates and offer promotional pricing on your room rates. By setting up a deal, you can show strikethrough pricing within a standalone website Powered by INNsight. Not only will your prices appear as marked down but the deal itself will be publicized in Google Hotel Search and surfaced in the Rate Comparison Tool widget.
How do I use Markdown Manager to set up discounts and promotion codes?
There are two types of deals that can be set up by Markdown Manager:
Discount by the $ amount if the reservation is booked by a certain date
Discount by % off if the reservation is booked by a certain date.
Discounts and Promotion Codes work interchangeably like a Rate Plan does in traditional revenue management nomenclature. Each markdown type can be assigned a Rate Plan Name and revenue figures are tracked in the table below.
In order to set up a Deal:
You will need to add a promotional message in the Message field. Deals are promoted per room type.
Check-In Date is the date when the promotion will go live on the site.
Check-Out Date determines how many days the promo will run for.
No of Nights determines the minimum number of nights will need to be reserved to take advantage of the promotional price.
The Discount can be applied as either a dollar amount or percentage off.
You can even add an amount to the base rate if the rate plan is intended to be an Add-on.
Book by Date creates a sense of urgency for the traveler by determining an expiration date for the Deal
Black-Out dates can easily be set up by selecting a date range which will exempt the rate plan from validity.
You can also limit the use of the promotional rate by day or times used.
It is imperative to include a full description of the rate plan and the particular policies attributed to the plan including cancelation and refundability details.
Once all fields are entered, click on 'Save' to queue the rate plan for exposure and add it to the Live Deals list below.
To remove a Deal, you can click on the cancel 'x' icon of any deal from the Live Deals list below.
eCommerce subscribers can use the Markdown Manager Promotion Codes feature to set up promotion codes that can be shared with customers to use while booking on your website Powered by INNsight.
In order to set up a Promotion Code, simply enter the alphanumeric code you would like to establish in the ‘Enter Code’ field, set up either a dollar or percentage amount off, the start and expiration date for the promotion code and the number of times the promotion code can be applied. Once the rules and the promotion code are set up, you will see it displayed in the active promotion code list below. As the promotion code is utilized, The System will tally its usage and revenue figures, providing you insight into the effectiveness of your promotion code.
A Special Code is a special type of Promotion Code that allows you to set up a promotion code for a specific stay, room type and fixed dollar amount. For example, if you were planning a promotion such as ‘stay 2 nights for $100’, you would simply set up a Special Code with a minimum night stay of 2 nights for a fixed room rate of $100. Special Codes can be used to facilitate group buy deals such as Groupon, LivingSocial, and TravelZoo deals.
